Overview

Objective: Conducting a thorough and effective archaeological survey and excavation in order to integrate heritage assets inthe urban development while also investing in the archaeological training oflocal talents

Methodology: We use a variety of methodologies in our approach, including 3D archaeological rendering to improve the visualre presentation of the sites and cutting-edge data management, processing, and analysis methods to improve the precision and effectiveness of our work. Our strategy also aims to train up-and-coming Saudi archaeologists while keeping the work moving quickly and involving them in every step of the process.

Challenges

  • The extensive scope of the project (7 different zones with different environmental contexts) presented a significant challenge, as it required a comprehensive strategy that could effectively address the diverse range of contexts encompassed within each zone.
  • Moreover, a detailed field survey was conducted to identify and assess any remaining agricultural sites requiring further investigation. A crucial aspect of the project involved examining the rainwater collection system and water management practices, which provided invaluable insights into the     intertwining relationships between culture and environmental adaptation.
